Running a health and welfare benefits program is a big — and important — job. It requires experience, expertise and a commitment to good governance. That’s why the Directors Guild of Canada established a separate Health and Welfare Trust on January 1, 2004. It’s the Trustees’ responsibility to operate and administer the DGC Benefits Plan. The Trust itself is governed by a Board of Trustees. Board members include District Council representatives, representatives from the DGC National Executive Board, and the DGC’s Executive Director. The Board of Trustees holds ultimate responsibility for the Trust and the DGC Benefits Plan. In other words, they are responsible for ensuring:

Board members typically gather in person three times a year; however, they meet via conference call throughout the year. In their role as Trustees, Board members have a legal obligation to act in the collective best interests of members.
